During the last debate Mike Huckabee was quoted saying
"We are right now a very polarized country, and that polarized country has led to a paralyzed government...We've got to be the united people of the United States."
But some of Huckabee's past statements show how little Huckabee cares about uniting anyone who doesn't have his views.
-in 1998 he is quoted saying "I hope we...take this nation back for Christ"
-in 1992 he was quoted saying that people with the AIDS should be quarantined
-in 1998 he endorsed an ad affirming the Baptist teaching that a "wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband"
-Huckabee also declared that people who do not believe in God tend to be immoral and to engage in "destructive behavior."
Huckabee also penned a book called Kids Who Kill: Confronting Our Culture of Violence in response to the Jonesboro Arkansas school shooting, which occurred on March 24, 1998 while Huckabee was governor of the state. It was hardly the book needed to mend the state after such a tragedy, in it Huckabee proceeded to blame everything for the school shooting stating that they were the cause of
"a society in decline, a decline marked (and caused) by abortion, pornography, media violence, out-of-wedlock sex, divorce, drug use, and, of course, homosexuality."
Some direct quotes from the book are...
"Abortion, environmentalism, AIDS, pornography, drug abuse, and homosexual activism have fragmented and polarized our communities."
How environmentalism is linked to the other issues he mentioned was never explained. Further in the book he wrote...
"It is now difficult to keep track of the vast array of publicly endorsed and institutionally supported aberrations—from homosexuality and pedophilia to sadomasochism and necrophilia."
What public endorses pedophilia, sadomasochism, and necrophilia was also never mentioned by Huckabee.
Huckabee sounds like another George W. Bush style "uniter"...the last thing this country needs.

A Few Mike Huckabee Stats
Huckabee increased state spending 65.3% from 1996-2004, funded by 5 state tax increases...though he says he wants to cut taxes through is "Fairtax" national sales tax proposal.
Huckabee as been called the "biggest taxer and spender in Arkansas history"
Huckabee opposed a repeal of a sales tax on groceries and medicine in 2002, raised the gasoline tax in 1999, and signed a $5.25 bed tax on private nursing home patients in 2001.
The Cato Institute gave Huckabee an "F" for spending and tax policy in 2006.
During his tenure as governor the general obligation debt for the state of Arkansas increased by nearly $1 billion.
The 1999 gasoline tax increases were never on an Arkansas ballot yet Huckabee insisted "the fuel tax was a vote of the people—eighty percent of the people voted to improve roads."
Americans for Tax Reform called Huckabee a "serial tax increaser" in 2006.
Huckabee has complained that illegal Hispanic immigrants can not get financial aid for their education, saying denying them state benefits is "un-Christian."
