Mike Huckabee likes the Confederate Flag. (at least when he is in South Carolina)

Mike Huckabee, when asked about the Confederate flag while campaigning in South Carolina said that if anyone ever told them in Arkansas what flag they could fly they would tell them where to shove the pole. More pandering by Mike Huckabee to help reclaim some support that he has been losing since Iowa. Chuck Norris please go home.

Mike Huckabee is a Liar

Mike Huckabee lying about lowering taxes while governor of Arkansas, from tonight's Republican debate...

"Huckabee seemed unruffled. "The Air Force has a saying that if you're not catching flak you're not over the target. I'm catching the flak. I must be over the target," he said. He added he had cut taxes as governor of Arkansas and was re-elected by his constituents, a sure sign, he added, that they were pleased with his performance."

Remember these statistics...

  • Immediately upon taking office, Governor Huckabee signed a sales tax hike in 1996 to fund the Games and Fishing Commission and the Department of Parks and Tourism (Cato Policy Analysis No. 315, 09/03/98).
  • He supported an internet sales tax in 2001 (Americans for Tax Reform 01/07/07).
  • He publicly opposed the repeal of a sales tax on groceries and medicine in 2002 (Arkansas News Bureau 08/30/02).
  • He signed bills raising taxes on gasoline (1999), cigarettes (2003) (Americans for Tax Reform 01/07/07), and a $5.25 per day bed-tax on private nursing home patients in 2001 (Arkansas New Bureau 03/01/01).
  • He proposed another sales take hike in 2002 to fund education improvements (Arkansas News Bureau 12/05/02).
  • He opposed a congressional measure to ban internet taxes in 2003 (Arkansas News Bureau 11/21/03).
  • In 2004, he allowed a 17% sales tax increase to become law (The Gurdon Times 03/02/04)
Don't let Mike Huckabee lie about his record and get away with it. He is a heavy taxer and will continue to tax the American middle class into poverty.

Pastor Chuck Baldwin Against Mike Huckabee

Clips from an article written by Baptist Pastor Chuck Baldwin from Pensacola Florida...

"Many Christian conservatives see Mike Huckabee as the best candidate...Is Mike Huckabee worthy of this support, however? The facts say no."

"
I have already attempted to warn my evangelical brethren as to the dangers of supporting Mike Huckabee."

"
Robert Novak recently wrote a column about Mike Huckabee entitled, "The False Conservative." In the column he said, "Huckabee is campaigning as a conservative, but serious Republicans know that he is a high-tax, protectionist, big-government advocate of a strong hand in the Oval Office directing the lives of Americans."

Novak also said, "There is no doubt about Huckabee's record during a decade in Little Rock as governor. . . He increased the Arkansas tax burden by 47 percent, boosting the levies on gasoline and cigarettes."

"...a former Arkansas journalist writing in the conservative American Spectator, called Huckabee 'a guy with a thin skin, a nasty vindictive streak."

"
. . . Mr. Huckabee swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution when he became governor, yet many of his proposals are clearly unconstitutional"

"...
Mike Huckabee "worked with some of the state's most prominent and politically powerful businesses to establish the [Mexican] consulate as a magnet for drawing illegal immigrants to the state to accept low-paying jobs."

"...
In addition, Corsi also exposed the fact that Mike Huckabee worked with Mexican President Vicente Fox to help provide cheap Mexican labor for Tyson foods and other large Arkansas corporations."

"...
The American Spectator reported that "Fourteen times, the ethics commission--a respected body, not a partisan witch-hunt group--investigated claims against Huckabee. Five of those times, it officially reprimanded him."

"[Huckabee] used public money for family restaurant meals, boat expenses, and other personal uses. He tried to claim as his own some $70,000 of furniture donated to the governor's mansion. He repeatedly, and obstinately, against the pleadings even from conservative columnists and editorials, refused to divulge the names of donors to a 'charitable' organization he set up while lieutenant governor--an outfit whose main charitable purpose seemed to be to pay Huckabee to make speeches. Then, as a kicker, he misreported the income itself from the suspicious 'charity.'"

"...
he would continue his abolitionist crusade at the national level without giving much, if any, thought to the question of whether the Constitution or anything else would legitimize a federal ban on smoking."

"
Dear Christian friend, don't be duped by Mike Huckabee."

The words of one Southern Baptist Minister about a former Southern Baptist Minister.

The Huckabee train needs to stop at Iowa.

Mike Huckabee's Willie Horton...Wayne Dumond

Wayne DuMond was arrested and jailed for a rape in Arkansas...Mike Huckabee (contrary to what he says publicly) fought for the release of Wayne DuMond after which he raped and killed again...he also was linked to several other murders during the period after his release.

Lois Davidson Speaks...the Mother of DuMond's victim...

In January of 2006 Mike Huckabee was on Meet the Press where Tim Russert asked him about the Wayne DuMond case and his response was "Huckabee went on to insist that he did not intervene in Dumond’s case with the parole board, and neither he nor his staff tried to convince the board to grant Dumond parole"

But a member of the Parole and Pardon board was quoting as say this on Huckabee's involvement in the case...

"I signed the [parole] papers because the governor wanted Dumond paroled. I was thinking the governor was working for the best interests of the state.”

DuMond had many brushes with the law throughout his life; he was convicted of molested an underage girl in Tacoma Washington, then he was convicted of a rape of a 17 year old girl in Arkansas in 1984. The girl was a distant relative of the Clinton family and after Clinton was elected a right-wing campaign was launched to free DuMond by Arkansas Republicans who believed that the Clinton family railroaded DuMond.

When Huckabee became Arkansas governor in 1996 he was determined to release DuMond from prison, even writing DuMond a letter saying “my desire is that you be released from prison.” Huckabee used his clout to get DuMond released from prison in 1999. On June 21 2001 DuMond was arrested and charged for the September 20 2000 rape and murder of Carol Sue Shields. DuMond was found dead in his cell on September 1 2005. Charges were being prepared against him for the for the June 21 2001 rape and murder of pregnant Sara Andrasek.

Mother of Carol Sue Shields on Mike Huckabee...

"If not for Mike Huckabee, Wayne DuMond would've been in prison, and Carol Sue would've been with us this year for Christmas."

Mike Huckabee's Son is a DOG KILLER!

Mike Huckabee's son is a dog killer.

from "Newsweek"

As Mike Huckabee gains in the polls, the former Arkansas governor is finding that his record in office is getting more scrutiny. One issue likely to get attention is his handling of a sensitive family matter: allegations that one of his sons was involved in the hanging of a stray dog at a Boy Scout camp in 1998.

The incident led to the dismissal of David Huckabee, then 17, from his job as a counselor at Camp Pioneer in Hatfield, Ark. It also prompted the local prosecuting attorney- bombarded with complaints generated by a national animal-rights group to write a letter to the Arkansas state police seeking help investigating whether David and another teenager had violated state animal-cruelty laws. The state police never granted the request, and no charges were ever filed.

Huckabee Light On Crime?

During his time in office Mike Huckabee had three times as many pardons as the three previous Arkansas governors combined! A grand total of 1,033.

Some recipients of Huckabee pardons were

-A stepson of a staff member
-Killers who worked at the governor's mansion
-Rock stars
-Inmates who received good words from their clergy

Mike Huckabee as Cultural Warrior and Uniter (we heard that before)

During the last debate Mike Huckabee was quoted saying

"We are right now a very polarized country, and that polarized country has led to a paralyzed government...We've got to be the united people of the United States."

But some of Huckabee's past statements show how little Huckabee cares about uniting anyone who doesn't have his views.

-in 1998 he is quoted saying "I hope we...take this nation back for Christ"

-in 1992 he was quoted saying that people with the AIDS should be quarantined

-in 1998 he endorsed an ad affirming the Baptist teaching that a "wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband"

-Huckabee also declared that people who do not believe in God tend to be immoral and to engage in "destructive behavior."

Huckabee also penned a book called Kids Who Kill: Confronting Our Culture of Violence in response to the Jonesboro Arkansas school shooting, which occurred on March 24, 1998 while Huckabee was governor of the state. It was hardly the book needed to mend the state after such a tragedy, in it Huckabee proceeded to blame everything for the school shooting stating that they were the cause of

"
a society in decline, a decline marked (and caused) by abortion, pornography, media violence, out-of-wedlock sex, divorce, drug use, and, of course, homosexuality."

Some direct quotes from the book are...

"Abortion, environmentalism, AIDS, pornography, drug abuse, and homosexual activism have fragmented and polarized our communities."

How environmentalism is linked to the other issues he mentioned was never explained. Further in the book he wrote...

"It is now difficult to keep track of the vast array of publicly endorsed and institutionally supported aberrations—from homosexuality and pedophilia to sadomasochism and necrophilia."

What public endorses pedophilia, sadomasochism, and necrophilia was also never mentioned by Huckabee.

Huckabee sounds like another George W. Bush style "uniter"...the last thing this country needs.
