Mike Huckabee's Willie Horton...Wayne Dumond

Wayne DuMond was arrested and jailed for a rape in Arkansas...Mike Huckabee (contrary to what he says publicly) fought for the release of Wayne DuMond after which he raped and killed again...he also was linked to several other murders during the period after his release.

Lois Davidson Speaks...the Mother of DuMond's victim...

In January of 2006 Mike Huckabee was on Meet the Press where Tim Russert asked him about the Wayne DuMond case and his response was "Huckabee went on to insist that he did not intervene in Dumond’s case with the parole board, and neither he nor his staff tried to convince the board to grant Dumond parole"

But a member of the Parole and Pardon board was quoting as say this on Huckabee's involvement in the case...

"I signed the [parole] papers because the governor wanted Dumond paroled. I was thinking the governor was working for the best interests of the state.”

DuMond had many brushes with the law throughout his life; he was convicted of molested an underage girl in Tacoma Washington, then he was convicted of a rape of a 17 year old girl in Arkansas in 1984. The girl was a distant relative of the Clinton family and after Clinton was elected a right-wing campaign was launched to free DuMond by Arkansas Republicans who believed that the Clinton family railroaded DuMond.

When Huckabee became Arkansas governor in 1996 he was determined to release DuMond from prison, even writing DuMond a letter saying “my desire is that you be released from prison.” Huckabee used his clout to get DuMond released from prison in 1999. On June 21 2001 DuMond was arrested and charged for the September 20 2000 rape and murder of Carol Sue Shields. DuMond was found dead in his cell on September 1 2005. Charges were being prepared against him for the for the June 21 2001 rape and murder of pregnant Sara Andrasek.

"If not for Mike Huckabee, Wayne DuMond would've been in prison, and Carol Sue would've been with us this year for Christmas."
