By staying in, Huckabee makes McCain look better
Thank God for Mike Huckabee. He keeps going and going.
The GOP establishment grows increasingly annoyed by Huckabee's insistence on staying in a primary race he can't win, but we see no problem. Huckabee appeals to the most conservative wing of the Republican Party, thereby forcing front-runner John McCain to more clearly define for all Republicans his ideas and agenda. And Huckabee's continued presence serves as a daily reminder of what McCain truly is, despite his recent efforts to pretend otherwise -- a moderate to the core.
Huckabee has no chance of being elected president. And thank God for that, too. This is a man who believes the world was created in six days.
But for now, he's good for American politics. Go, Mike, go.
