He keeps going and going.

The GOP establishment grows increasingly annoyed by Huckabee's insistence on staying in a primary race he can't win, but we see no problem. Huckabee appeals to the most conservative wing of the Republican Party, thereby forcing front-runner John McCain to more clearly define for all Republicans his ideas and agenda. And Huckabee's continued presence serves as a daily reminder of what McCain truly is, despite his recent efforts to pretend otherwise -- a moderate to the core.

Huckabee has no chance of being elected president. And thank God for that, too. This is a man who believes the world was created in six days.

But for now, he's good for American politics. However, Huckabee, a Baptist minister and former Arkansas governor, hasn't faced nearly as much criticism for his lack of experience, and he keeps on stumbling."

"

10. He went on Jay Leno.

Duh! What writers' strike? It seems Huckabee was confused. At first, he didn't grasp that the writers' strike is still ongoing. So he crossed picket lines to go on the late-night talk show.

9. He doesn't know how to use the dictionary.

Oops! Huckabee can't define the difference between apology and sympathy. When former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on the campaign trail last month, Huckabee offered his apologies. Later, his campaign released a statement saying he meant to say sympathies.

8. He thinks we need a border fence to keep out Pakistani immigrants.

What? When asked to react to Bhutto, who represented democratic change in Pakistan, Huckabee instead spoke about the alleged growing illegal Pakistani problem. Huckabee claimed that "... we have more Pakistani illegals coming across our border than all other nationalities except those immediately south of the border." Not true. More Asian immigrants come to the United States from the Philippines, Korea, China and Vietnam.

7. He can't read a map.

Come on! Huckabee misstated the location of the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Huckabee said, "[Musharraf] has told us he does not have enough control of those eastern borders near Afghanistan to be able to go after the terrorists." Those borders are located on the west, not the east.

6. He doesn't read the front page of the newspaper.

Hello! More than 30 hours after the news was in every major newspaper and on television, Huckabee was clueless when asked about an intelligence report that Iran suspended its nuclear program four years ago.

5. He doesn't understand you can't get AIDS from kissing or touching.

Yikes! In 1992, Huckabee suggested we should quarantine people with AIDS. Huckabee wrote the following in response to a question from the Associated Press. "If the federal government is truly serious about doing something with the AIDS virus, we need to take steps that would isolate the carriers of this plague."

4. He brings new meaning to negative campaigning.

Huh? In Iowa, Huckabee held a press conference to announce he would not air a $30,000 negative ad his campaign made attacking Mitt Romney. He then showed the ad to a room full of reporters. Can Huckabee spell hypocrite?

3. He can go too far in mixing religion and politics.

Oh, sure! Huckabee lightheartedly denied that the white bookshelf in the background of his Christmas ad was meant to project the image of a floating cross, but critics, including Catholic League president Bill Donahue, saw it as a subliminal message. That kind of tactic played well with evangelical voters in Iowa, but we'll see if it works in the rest of the country.

2. He's a self-described "recovering foodaholic."

Wow! Now I give Huckabee credit for shedding more than 120 pounds. It takes willpower to resist all those corn dogs, fried chicken and Southern-fried goodies. But all that weight loss makes me wonder if Huckabee also lost some brain cells.

1. He's no Walker, Texas Ranger.

Help! He enlisted the former star of the above mentioned, corny television show, B-actor Chuck Norris, to be his celebrity campaigner. Sorry Chuck. You can't top Oprah."

Huckabee in Iowa

Excellent words by Joseph A. Palermo on why Huckabee can't win this election...

"Mike Huckabee did not even know that Afghanistan is on the western border of Pakistan, not the eastern border, and he hadn't even heard about the recent NIE on Iran. Instead of reading books on geography and international relations, Huckabee has been absorbed in Bible-thumping. Public piety is the only criteria for millions of Republican voters who possess as little knowledge of foreign affairs as does Hucka-Bucka. Huckabee is as unqualified to be president as George W. Bush.

A Huckabee administration would be a disaster for the nation since we must mend fences in the coming years with the rest of the world and with the United Nations, and the style="font-family:Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif;">Is Mike Huckabee worthy of this support, however? The facts say no."

"I have already attempted to warn my evangelical brethren as to the dangers of supporting Mike Huckabee."

"Robert Novak recently wrote a column about Mike Huckabee entitled, "The False Conservative." In the column he said, "Huckabee is campaigning as a conservative, but serious Republicans know that he is a high-tax, protectionist, big-government advocate of a strong hand in the Oval Office directing the lives of Americans."

Novak also said, "There is no doubt about Huckabee's record during a decade in Little Rock as governor. . . He increased the Arkansas tax burden by 47 percent, boosting the levies on gasoline and cigarettes."
"...a former Arkansas journalist writing in the conservative American Spectator, called Huckabee 'a guy with a thin skin, a nasty vindictive streak."

". . . Mr. Huckabee swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution when he became governor, yet many of his proposals are clearly unconstitutional"

"...Mike Huckabee "worked with some of the state's most prominent and politically powerful businesses to establish the [Mexican] consulate as a magnet for drawing illegal immigrants to the state to accept low-paying jobs."

"...In addition, Corsi also exposed the fact that Mike Huckabee worked with Mexican President Vicente Fox to help provide cheap Mexican labor for Tyson foods and other large Arkansas corporations."

"...The American Spectator reported that "Fourteen times, the ethics commission--a respected body, not a partisan witch-hunt group--investigated claims against Huckabee. Five of those times, it officially reprimanded him."

"[Huckabee] used public money for family restaurant meals, boat expenses, and other personal uses. He tried to claim as his own some $70,000 of furniture donated to the governor's mansion. His aides said he did not think it was appropriate to honor a particular faith.
But when Tucker went out of town for a week and Republican Lt. Gov. Mike Huckabee became the acting chief executive, the Baptist minister enthusiastically signed the proclamation, declaring at a later celebration that he was taking a stand against "Christophobia."
"His detractors point to a governor who became indignant at criticism of his personal behavior, particularly after it was disclosed that he had accepted tens of thousands of dollars in gifts from supporters. And they say his views resulted in petty conflicts over matters such as Christian Heritage Week or his refusal to sign a disaster relief bill until legislators removed the words "acts of God" to describe tornadoes because Huckabee argued that God was protecting people from tornadoes, not causing them."

"Early in Huckabee's tenure as governor, an unidentified 15-year-old girl had an abortion after being raped by her stepfather. When the clinic sought reimbursement for the procedure through Medicaid, the state declined.
The amendment to the state constitution that Huckabee had worked to get passed did not include an exception for rape or incest. Federal law allows Medicaid funds to be used for abortions in such cases, but Huckabee stood firm, saying he did not want to violate the state's antiabortion measure."
"But Huckabee did not solely focus on abortion and other social issues, and his positions were not always typical of a conservative. His proposal to offer in-state tuition to the children of illegal immigrants, for example, was not just opposed by Republicans, it was more liberal than the position of many Democrats in the legislature.
Likewise, expanding health insurance to low-income children was not a priority when Huckabee entered office. But after a 1997 meeting with Amy Rossi, a children's rights advocate, the governor dropped plans for a $25 tax rebate to everyone in the state, persuaded instead to back expanded health insurance to uninsured children who did not qualify for Medicaid. It was an achievement he now singles out as one of the most important of his governorship.

And to fund programs to improve roads and schools, Huckabee advocated a policy that has left him open to attacks from his GOP primary opponents: raising taxes."

Mike Huckabee's Son is a DOG KILLER!

Mike Huckabee's son is a dog killer.

from "Newsweek"

As Mike Huckabee gains in the polls, the former Arkansas governor is finding that his record in office is getting more scrutiny. One issue likely to get attention is his handling of a sensitive family matter: allegations that one of his sons was involved in the hanging of a stray dog at a Boy Scout camp in 1998.
The incident led to the dismissal of David Huckabee, then 17, from his job as a counselor at Camp Pioneer in Hatfield, Ark. It also prompted the local prosecuting attorney- bombarded with complaints generated by a national animal-rights group to write a letter to the Arkansas state police seeking help investigating whether David and another teenager had violated state animal-cruelty laws. The state police never granted the request, and no charges were ever filed.

A link that discusses how animal cruelty by children often leads to violence against humans...

Animal Violence/Human Violence

Huckabee Light On Crime?

During his time in office Mike Huckabee had three times as many pardons as the three previous Arkansas governors combined! It was hardly the book needed to mend the state after such a tragedy, in it Huckabee proceeded to blame everything for the school shooting stating that they were the cause of

"a society in decline, a decline marked (and caused) by abortion, pornography, media violence, out-of-wedlock sex, divorce, drug use, and, of course, homosexuality."

Some direct quotes from the book are...

"Abortion, environmentalism, AIDS, pornography, drug abuse, and homosexual activism have fragmented and polarized our communities."

How environmentalism is linked to the other issues he mentioned was never explained. Further in the book he wrote...

"It is now difficult to keep track of the vast array of publicly endorsed and institutionally supported aberrations—from homosexuality and pedophilia to sadomasochism and necrophilia."

What public endorses pedophilia, sadomasochism, and necrophilia was also never mentioned by Huckabee.

Huckabee sounds like another George W.
